Söngvakeppnin 1 was the first edition of the Icelandic music competition that selected Iceland's entry for the Europa Song Contest 4. The selection had a final held in Reykjavik. Gladius featuring Klara Elias won the edition with her song "The Lunatics".

Information[]

On the 10 February the Head of Delegation of Iceland reported that the country would be taking part in the fourth edition and that the first edition of Söngvakeppnin would take place to select the country's entry. This was officially confirmed by the Icelandic broadcaster.

Competing entries[]

The competing entries of the edition were selected by the broadcaster. The broadcaster reavel the competing acts on 10 February 2018. On 11 February RÚV announce the last artist Birgir. Birgir represent Iceland in the Europa Song Contest 2 with the song "Last For Long" which selected internally but failed to qualify and finished in the 14th place with only 55 points.

Final[]

The final started on 20 February 2018 with the voting lasting about two weeks and ending on 28 February 2018. The results were presented four days later, on 28 February 2018. Thorsteinn Einarsson opened the final with a medley of his songs "Aurora".
